It was Picasso who said ‘every child is an artist’ and exploring that inner artist enables our children to explore who they are, encourage creative thinking by stretching their imaginations and boost self-esteem by providing a sense of accomplishment. There are so many sources of inspiration on the web for making and creating and here are some of our favourites.

Beautiful Little Button Diaries is a crafting and baking blog written by two Brighton based mums and published authors, Tia and Laura, who share a love for all things creative. It’s as much about the adults having fun as the children and there are specific ideas which can be done during nap time! The ideas for upcycling are brilliant, including how to create a top from a bedsheet! Perfect for earth lovers!

Based in Cornwall, we love the ideas inspired by the seaside from rock painting to driftwood aliens as well as the sensory activities including play dough recipes, sensory bins, water play and foam and pasta. There are also 200+ beautiful free downloadable colouring sheets for adults – the kids might have to hide their Stib pencils!

You can try making your own Elves or buy them from the site which also includes ideas on how to use them from baking cookies for friends to smiling at everyone you see!
